I’m Gregory Evans. I build infrastructure and software, and I’m at my best when I can help set direction, then get close enough to the work to make sure the idea holds up.
My career has taken me through large scale automation, cloud modernization, platform engineering, and mentoring engineers. I care about systems that work well for the people who depend on them.
G.BUILT FOR PEOPLE BUILT TO LAST
02 / 02 THE THINGS THAT SHAPE THE WORK
MORE THAN THE RÉSUMÉ.
01 / 06
TEACHING.
SKIING / SNOWBOARDING / COACHING
Some of what shaped me happened far from a keyboard. I spent three years teaching skiing and snowboarding at Mission Ridge. The real challenge was learning how different people learn. I had to see what each person could already do, understand what was holding them back, and choose a challenge they were ready for. I use that same approach at work, especially with engineers whose ability has grown faster than their confidence.
02 / 06
PERSPECTIVE.
READING / CULTURAL ANTHROPOLOGY / LISTENING
Reading and cultural anthropology have taught me to question my first interpretation of a problem. I try to understand how other people see their situation before deciding what they need. In engineering, that means listening to the developers, operators, and customers who live with a system every day. Their experience often reveals the problem more clearly than the architecture diagram does.
03 / 06
CRAFT.
ART / DESIGN / ENGINEERING
Art matters to me, too. I care about how a thing looks, feels, and communicates, whether it is a product, an interface, or a tool someone has to use under pressure. Working software still deserves thought and craft. I’ve brought that eye to my own game projects, where getting the visual direction right has required as much attention as getting the code to work.
04 / 06
COMMUNITY.
SKYDIVING / GIVING BACK
Skydiving gave me a community that shares knowledge freely. That is part of why I’m building CheckDive as a free, ad-free study app for skydivers. I want to bring that same willingness to help others grow to the teams I join.
05 / 06
PRIORITIES.
FAMILY / HUMOR / RECOVERY
I’m a dad, and time with my kids keeps my priorities clear. Shared experiences and memories matter to me. I want to do ambitious work with people who care deeply about it, while making room for their lives outside work, too. Good work, humor, recovery, and a life beyond the pager can coexist.
06 / 06
THE NEXT CHAPTER.
ENGINEERING LEADER / HANDS-ON BUILDER
I’m looking for a full-time engineering leadership role where I can set direction, stay close to the work, and help other people do the best work of their careers. I would also consider the right senior hands-on role if it offers that same ownership and impact.
